European Boxing Union (EBU)
The European professional boxing organization founded in Paris in 1910 under the first name "International Boxing Union". At first, the IBU recognized world championship titles in competition with the U.S. National Boxing Organization. The International Boxing Union was transformed into the European Boxing Union in 1946. The EBU title is important, though not necessary, on the road to world titles from one of the major international boxing organizations: the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO. The EBU is closely connected to the WBC, thanks to which the European champion, as a rule, immediately rises in the WBC ranking.
