Handicap
A situation where the odds of the competitors are leveled. Handicap in boxing is achieved by dividing the athletes into weight categories. The first division in history was implemented in 1746, with athletes divided into two categories - light and heavy. In 1786 three weight categories appeared - light, medium and heavy. During the III and IV Olympic Games in 1904 and 1908 boxers were divided into five weight categories. Further, in order to keep athletes healthy and prevent severe injuries, the boundaries of the categories were narrowed many times, while the weight categories themselves were increased.
