-one of the four major international professional boxing organizations, founded in the late 1980s by a group of businessmen from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. During the 1990s, the organization managed to gain credibility in Europe, but in the U.S. the WBO was considered a minor association until the mid-2000s. The WBO is headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
