Ribbon
In gymnastics lingo a sports apparatus used in women's artistic gymnastics, consisting of a handle and the ribbon itself. The handle of the apparatus has a cylindrical or conical shape, a length of 50-60 cm, is made of plexiglass or plastic (previously – made of wood), and can be painted in any color. The ribbon is made of satin, with a length of 6 meters for seniors (gymnasts who are over 16 years old) and 5 meters for juniors. The ribbon can be either solid-colored or colored in several different shades. The handle is attached to the ribbon using a thin steel carabiner. According to the rules of the Gymnastics Federation, ribbon exercises predominantly feature turns or rotations and jumps, with the main elements being large and small circles, spirals, snakes, ridges, stick rebounds, and throws.
