Boxing
Boxing — is a martial art sport where the competition is performed by punching with protective gloves. The entire technique of boxing is built around working with the hands and delivering punches above the belt. The judge oversees the fight, which lasts from 3 to 12 rounds. Victory in the fight considered as achieved in case if the opponent is knocked down and can not get on his feet for more than 10 seconds (such a victory is considered a knockout victory), or if the opponent was injured, preventing further conduct of the fight (technical knockout). If during the designated number of rounds, none of the opponents managed to win - the victory is awarded by the decision of the judges.
The earliest evidence of such contests can be found in Sumerian, Egyptian and Minoan reliefs. Fist-fighting tournaments resembling boxing took place as far back as ancient Greece. The birth of boxing as a sport took place in 688 BC when fist fights were first introduced in the Olympic Games. Modern boxing was born in England in the early 18th century.
